Wiedza: 1. Student knows the main legal framework of RTAs within World Trade Organization (WTO). 2. Student knows the reasons, channels of impact and effects of RTAs on national economies, third countries and the world economy. 3. Student knows the effects of RTAs on national economies, third countries and the world economy. Umiejętności: 1. Student is able to analyze potential for RTAs development in different regions of the world (on different continents). 2. Student is able to propose strategies to increase benefits of cooperation in the framework of RTAs; 3. Student is able to propose strategies to deepen cooperation in the framework of RTAs. Kompetencje społeczne: 1. Student is able to present a critical approach towards analyzed concepts and solutions and to develop their own ones. 2. Student is able to understand and apply basic ethical rules. |

Types of regional trading agreements (RTAs). Trends and reasons of development. Effects on members and on external partners. Comparative analysis of RTAs (EU, NAFTA, ASEAN). RTAs: a barrier or a factor of closer cooperation? Mechanisms of functioning of the EU as the main trading bloc (movement of goods, services, workers, capital, relations with third countries). |

Pełny opis: |
The first objective of the course is to explain the reasons of increasing importance of regional integration (trade) agreements, mechanisms of their functioning and, effects on member states and on the third countries. The second objective is to discuss the essence, intensity of relations, effects and prospects of development of economic relations in the framework of the European Union as the biggest and major world trading block. Achievement of these objectives will serve to sum up the course and discuss whether regional trade agreements are an incentive or a barrier to worldwide cooperation. |
