Wiedza: Basic methods of estimation of a linear model for panel data and their limitations. Methods of verification of linear models for panel data. Generalized method of moments and its application for estimation of dynamic panel data models and models with other types of endogeneity. Basic methods of estimation o limited dependent variable models for panel data and basic methods of their verification. Basic methods and problems that appear when there are missing observations. Umiejętności: Ability to estimate with the use of proper software, and draw conclusions on the basis of linear (both static and dynamic) and selected nonlinear models for panel data. Ability to draw conclusions on the quality of simple models based on panel data. Ability to decide whether missing observations in a given data set still enable estimation of a model based on panel data. Kompetencje społeczne: Understanding and ability to read economic literature on panel data analysis. Understanding the importance of replicability and transparency of data construction and analysis for empirical research. |

Pełny opis: |
The course aims at acquainting students with the theory of modern methods of analyzing panel data, demonstration of their pros and cons and ways of applying them in practice. The classes are designed to point out the fields in which panel data provide most information in comparison to cross-sectional data and time series. The course also aims et training the abilities of quantitative analysis of the panel data. The course in Econometrics of panel data consists of lectures and classes in computer laboratory. Basic methods of panel data analysis are discussed. The panel data techniques are illustrated with various applications. Stata software is prevailing as the tool for estimating and verifying appropriate models. Main idea of the course is to get students acquainted with the theory of modern methods of analyzing panel data, demonstration of their pros and cons and the ways of applying them in practice. |
