Wiedza: A student should be able to enumerate the most important classes of decision problems (with multiple criteria, with uncertainty/risk, sequential problems, group decision problems); A student should be able to give examples of decision models applied in decision analysis (decision tables, decision trees). A student should be able to propose methods of comparing decision alternatives and making recommendations in the above classes of decision problems (e.g. value function, maximin, maximax, Laplace, Hurwicz, Savage criterion, stochastic dominance, backward induction). A student should be able to understand the basic notions of decision analysis (e.g. efficiency, risk aversion, time inconsistency of decision, expected value of perfect information). Umiejętności: A student should know how to structure decision problems (identify a need and a goal, enumerate alternatives, select attributes, judge the uncertainty). A student should know how to select the model to represent a real-life decision problem, parameterize the model, generate a recommendation and interpret it. A student should know how to foresee and limit the negative consequences of behavioural elements of decision making process. Kompetencje społeczne: A student should see the possibilities to apply the knowledge acquired during studies in real life problems. A student should present and defend her/his opinion during discussion. |

Skrócony opis: |
The elements of decision making process, the structure of a decision problem and typical structuring errors will be presented. We will discuss the selected types of decision situations and present methods used to solve them. We will see how behavioural and psychological aspects may influence the decision making. The objective of the course is to endow the participants with the ability to use analytical approach in real-life decision making. |
|
Pełny opis: |
Decision making is an indispensable part of a professional life of every manager, analyst and scientist. At the same time understanding and describing the decision making process is the central element of economics. The aim of this course is to demonstrate how quantitative methods can be used in order to support the decision making process in the selected classes of decision problems that appear in everyday life, and to show how to incorporate the behavioural limitations of a real-life decision making process. The knowledge acquired during the course should be useful for further studies and in professional career. |
