Wiedza: The student has knowledge of the significance of metropolization processes in the modern world, knows the basic terms and concepts The student has knowledge of the importance of global cities for economic development, is aware of problems faced by metropolises, knows dilemmas of local and central authorities related to their management and the diversification of interests of various groups of urban entities The student knows empirical examples of the discussed processes (from Poland and selected countries of the world) Umiejętności: Student can use theoretical knowledge to analyze the process of metropolization and contemporary changes in cities Student is able to indicate the consequences of the analized processes Student is able to critically analyze research reports and media surveys concerning urban problems Kompetencje społeczne: The student is aware of the significance of metropolisation processes in the socio-economic development The student is prepared to participate in the discussion, express and justify his opinion on the processes ongoing in cities Understands the social, economic and spatial consequences of the metropolisation processes |

Skrócony opis: |
The didactic program has been divided into four blocks. During the first meetings, students learn the basic theoretical concepts concerning global cities, metropolises and metropolisation process. The second thematic block is devoted to the analysis of the basis of the economic development of global cities, their competitive advantages and selected problems that these cities face. The third thematic block focuse on problems in the management of global cities and the multiplicity of interests concentrated in these centers. The last thematic block concerns the problem of the role of the cities in international relations. |
