Introduction to Polish language and Culture

Overcoming communication barriers; independence in dealing with various situations which occur in everyday life; learn vocabulary necessary to work or study in Poland. Information about Polish Culture will help students to adapt in Poland quickly.

The main aim of the course is teaching communication skills; students should be able to survive in everyday situations as early as possible. Grammar is introduced only to organise knowledge of the language and use of word endings. The participants of the course gradually learn more and more complicated structures and are able to express wishes and ask questions, describe things and people, ask the way, do shopping, buy a ticket, order a taxi etc. Students are taught four disciplines: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The threshold percentage of absences (excluding lectures)

defined as the proportion of class hours beyond which the achievement of learning outcomes is deemed unattainable: 20%

Detailed passing conditions:

A student must meet all four of the following conditions to receive a passing grade in the language course, confirming the achievement of learning outcomes:

1. Obtain a minimum of 60 %from written control tests,

2. Obtain a minimum of 60 % in total,

3. Obtain at least 60 % of the points awarded for spoken language,

4. Attend at least 80% classes during the semester
