Efekty uczenia się: |
Wiedza: The student should understand pros and cons of various corporate performance objectives advocated by theory and practice. The student should appreciate the difference between single period ex post financial analysis and multiperiod cash-flow-driven ex ante analysis. The student should know the logic behind ratio analysis and the rule that "ratios are for an analyst not the other way round". The student should understand the concept of risk-reward analysis. The student should understand practical problems with application of theoretical tools in real life situations. Umiejętności: The student should be able to appraise financial performance of a firm based on financial accounting information. The student should be able to identify the sources of good/bad performance using ratio analysis and Dupont structure. The student should be able to perform valuation of any simple financial instrument given cash flow forecasts. The student should be able to make investment decisions based on cash flows and price/initial investment data. The student should be able to estimate cost of capital parameters with the often limited data available. Kompetencje społeczne: The student should be able to critically appraise the data available and opinions presented to him, no matter how "prestigious" the source is. The student should be able to make decisions in situations when information is patchy and evidence contradictory via the open debate with those arfguing for an opposite position. |

The course introduces all the main agents active in the world of corporate finance, language used, financial tools applied and instruments traded with the prime aim to design a systematic approach to financial performance appraisal (ex post) and decision making (ex ante). Real-life experience and challenges of the CFO and the shareholders are the focal point in the structure of the course. |
