Wiedza: Student: 1. has theoretical and practical knowledge about the determinants of the welfare state, their effectiveness and impact on the rate of economic growth, the specificity of legal acts and also impact on finance sector, competitiveness of the economy, entrepreneurship, labor market, regional development. 2. has knowledge of how to effectively measure the real effects of legal acts determining the shape of the welfare state. 3. has the knowledge to understand the complex processes and phenomena occurring in the welfare state and their impact on the economy, knows the basic determinants of the welfare state. Umiejętności: Student: 1. is able to make a critical analysis, interpretation and evaluation of phenomena and processes in the field of economic analysis of the welfare state. 2. can independently solve professional problems related to functioning in a multicultural environment and in different legal and political systems. 3. has the ability of logical thinking and synthesis. 4. knows how to reach and use various sources of knowledge. Kompetencje społeczne: Student: 1. can transform acquired theoretical knowledge in the field of law and economics into practical knowledge. 2. demonstrates the ability to actively participate in shaping a democratic society. |

A social state and incentives to undertake work and invest in the theory of economics. The efficiency of the social state. (Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon, continental model) - findings from empirical research. Redistribution of income. Income differences and poverty reduction programs. Monetary and financial benefits in the labor market and public finances. Economic analysis of public and private health care system and education system. Political economy of a social state. |

Economic Analysis of the Welfare State introduces students to the field of state efficiency analysis depending on the scope of its competence. The student learns the effects of the scale of income redistribution on the functioning of the labor market, the state of public finances, the rate of economic growth. During the course the student also acquires knowledge in the field of economic analysis of the public and private health care system and education system, as well as learn the directions and effectiveness of social welfare reforms in developed countries (Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon and continental model - findings from empirical research). The effectiveness of various types of state interference in social and economic life is discussed on the basis of specific cases, for example: the impact of the method of financing the education system on the effects of education in the international perspective. Students also prepare short essays (2-5 pages). The most interesting works are presented and discussed in class. |
