Wiedza: Student has knowledge about basic statistical methods used in emprical legal studies. Student has knowledge about designing, conducting and communicating empirical research findings in legal studies. Student has knowledge necessary to prepare a critical analysis of empirical findings in legal Studies. Umiejętności: Students can calculate and interpret basic descriptive statistics on their own. Students can critically assess research methods applied in empirical legal studies. Students can take advantage of different source of knowledge on empirical legal and economic studies. Kompetencje społeczne: Students can apply their theoretical knowledge on law and economics to solve same practical problems. Students can use logic to analyse and solve problems. |

Pełny opis: |
The course provides students with background knowledge on quantitative methods applied in legal studies. It focuses on key elements of empirical research like defining of the research problem, formulating research hypothesis and the strategy how to testify them, collecting relevant data, methods of quantitative analysis including descriptive statistics and statistical inference. It discusses also how to present and analyse research findings. The course aims at teaching students about the process of forming and writing new individual research projects in legal studies. It provides them also with knowledge necessary to a critical analysis of the research findings in the literature on the law and economics focusing on applied research methods and interpretation of the findings. |
