Pełny opis: |
1. Introduce the basic problems, concepts and techniques related to economic growth and development. 2. Help the students in their understanding of the role of different factors of growth in economic theory and in economic policy. 3. Show contemporary discussions on world's problems of growth and development. The course attempt to answer to two fundamental questions of modern economics. Where does economic growth come from? Why are some countries rich and other poor? The first question is answered by the classical model of economic growth of Solow supplemented with more recent endogenous growth modelling. Individual factors of growth are discussed: institutions, human capital, social capital, technology, resources and natural environment. Coordination errors and emergence of multiple equilibria in the presence of scale economies is the most important part of the course. |
