Wiedza:

Student knows the main directions of demographic changes in the second half of the 20th century, their mechanisms and causes as well as can determine future directions of demographic changes in the world.

Student understands impacts of population ageing on labour market, pension system, public finance and health care, especially in the European countries.

Student understands the importance of population and social policies, their implications and limitations.

Umiejętności:

Student should be able to analyse and critically evaluate demographic processes and directions of their development.

Student should be able to indicate relationships between demographic processes and their socio- and economic consequences at the individual and household levels as well as at the country and international levels.

Student should be able to interpret demographic processes correctly, describe their consequences and indicate possible policy responses under the social policy framework.

Kompetencje społeczne:

Student appreciates importance of demographic factors for economic processes at country and international levels.

Student is able to understand interrelations between demographic processes and their institutional and legal environment.

Pełny opis:

Acquiring knowledge about population ageing process, its measurement, causes and socio-economic consequences. The starting point of lectures is the advancement of population ageing process in developed regions compared to demographic development observed in the world. Main socio-economic consequences of population ageing important for countries, individuals, families and households will be presented. The effects of demographic change will be discussed from the point of view of the European countries with a special attention to Poland.
