Wiedza: Students have strong background in theoretical aspects of finance. Students know how to apply knowledge about market anomalies to investment strategies. Students know which elements of theory and which tools to employ for solving a particular practical problem in the area of finance. Umiejętności: Students can conduct financial analysis with the use of Excel. Students can build financial models with the use of Excel. Students know how to apply methods/techniques of financial analysis for solving particular practical problem. Students know how to organize their work and share duties within a team. Students know how to prepare a written report/presentation for their consulting project. Students are able to present orally their project, explain details, and answer questions of a potential "client". Kompetencje społeczne: Students possess an ability of logical and critical thinking. Students know how to participate effectively in teamwork. |

There will be some revision of knowledge about financial theory, practical methods and techniques used in various financial project. Students are required to know at least basics of finance, particularly corporate finance and financial analysis. Different types of projects shall be discussed during the first half of the semester. The second half of the semester is dedicated to presentation of projects elaborated by "teams of consultants" consisting of 3-5 students each. |

This is a practical course that aims to develop skills of elaborating typical financial projects such as business valuations, investment memorandum or IPO prospectus, cash-flow management analysis and re-financing, turn-around projects, LBO/MBO, investment analysis (NPV, IRR, etc), and other financial projects. Students will be required to work in teams of 3-5 members and to deliver a project of their choice acting as they were financial consultants. Global aspects of financial projects shall be emphasized, however potential projects are not limited to international issues only. The course aims: to refresh knowledge of finance and the use of methods/techniques of financial analysis, to gain practical skills in financial modeling, to combine theoretical knowledge with empirical application, to learn teamwork, to learn the job of a financial consultant. |
