  • roczny wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się dla danego etapu studiów wynosi 1500-1800 h, co odpowiada 60 ECTS;
  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;
  • tygodniowy nakład pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się pozwala uzyskać 1,5 ECTS;
  • nakład pracy potrzebny do zaliczenia przedmiotu, któremu przypisano 3 ECTS, stanowi 10% semestralnego obciążenia studenta.

Efekty uczenia się:

Wiedza:

1. The student will become acquainted and understand basic terms related to development assistance.

2. The student will have knowledge on entities and institutions engaged in aid activities as well as aid financing

3. The student will be able to explain principles and mechanisms for providing assistance under international and national development assistance systems.

4. The student will formulate its own opinion on the problem of aid ineffectiveness and will try to get the answers to the question: how to make the development assistance more effective, and thus contribute to the achievement of development goals by societies and state economies.

Umiejętności:

1. The student will improve its cognitive and analytical skills relating to information and statistical data on development assistance and financial flows.

2. The student will be able to form its opinions and defend opinions as well as exchange views on socially important topics

3. The student will get acquainted with methods of problem-solving and abilities of their application on the example of entities involved in international affairs.

4. The student will be able to form and defend its different positions using reasonable and knowledge-based arguments.

Kompetencje społeczne:

1. Ability to work in a group, communicate and cooperate with others.

2. Ability to develop a common position among participants with different views.

3. Ability to formulate positions and opinions on difficult and complex topics.

4. Conviction of the necessity to provide assistance for those most in need

Presentation of recent achievements and failures in the field of development assistance. Examination of financial flows and other resources dedicated to aid. Focusing on the state of implementation of development goals enclosed in the UN Agenda 2030. Analysis of the latest solutions, instruments and financial mechanisms for improving development assistance activities. Discussion of various aspects of development assistance, i.e. from the point of view of an individual donor (i.e. a bilateral channel), an institutional donor / international organization (i.e. a multilateral channel) and an aid recipient (receiving entity). The problem of financing aid from public funds (Official Development Assistance, ODA) and private resources (business sector) will be analyzed. There will be made an attempt to answer the questions regarding financing and effectiveness / ineffectiveness of development aid.

The objective of the course is: 1. to present and analyze current knowledge of development assistance in the context of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 2. to find answers regarding the problem of low aid effectiveness and to examine the methods and tools how to improve it. 3. to explore the problem on why, how and who should we provide the aid 4. to develop students' social competences such as the conviction of the need to provide assistance to developing societies and economies. 5. to improve the ability to formulate and justify students arguments and opinions on important social issues with incomplete information.
