  • nakład pracy potrzebny do zaliczenia przedmiotu, któremu przypisano 3 ECTS, stanowi 10% semestralnego obciążenia studenta.

Wiedza:

Students will learn about corporate, local and central government lobbying within the decision-making and legislative processes of the main EU institutions

Students will learn how to act and how to influence the decision-making and legislative process of political institutions: of the European Council

Students will learn how to act and how to influence the decision-making and legislative process (including delegated and implementing acts - comitology) in the European Commission

Students will learn about the functioning of the main co-legislators (EU Council and European Parliament) and how to influence their decisions

Student knows the ways and channels of influencing the activity of consultative institutions: of the Committee of the Regions and the European Economic and Social Committee

Umiejętności:

The student has the ability to prepare a business lobbying strategy in the main EU institutions

The student has the ability to prepare a lobbying strategy for local government and central government in the main EU institutions

Students will be able to identify lobbying activities of other partners and indicate supporting or opposition activities

Kompetencje społeczne:

The student demonstrates the ability to discuss and cooperate in a group preparing the project work

Students are characterized by responsibility for their own and other people's work

Concept, subject-matter and scope of corporate and governmental lobbying. The nature of the EU institutions in the context of lobbying. Influence of business, local governments and governments of Member States and non-EU partners on the effects of lobbying in the form of decisions and legal acts of the main EU institutions: the European Council, the European Commission, the EU Council and its subsidiary bodies, the European Parliament and consultative institutions. Students prepare a lobbying project (corporate or governmental) in the EU decision-making process for a specific legislative/non-legislative proposal.

Classes are conducted with the maximum involvement of students and the use of online tools (including peer & tutor feedback, learning by listening, the art of asking important questions, peer-to-peer and teacher-based assessment using online rubrics, team-based learning). It is about the constant cooperation of the lecturer with students, pointing to possible shortcomings

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the system of corporate, local and central government lobbying within the decision-making and legislative processes of the EU institutions, including the European Council, the EU Council and its subsidiary bodies, the European Parliament and consultative institutions. As a result, students will gain knowledge about the possibilities of direct or an indirect influence on the EU legislation and the ability to develop and evaluate a lobbying campaign in a legislative process in the EU.
