The goals of this course include presenting knowledge on formal modelling of decision making problems, indicationg links with other branches of science, discussing economic applications of game theory.

Game theory is a branch of science concerned with analyzing human behaviour in situations when the result can be influenced by decisions of multiple decision makers. It is currently used in microeconomics as a basic tool for analyzing behaviour of various entities in the market. This class gives students formal tools to analyze various types of decision making problems.

Wiedza:

1. Students should know and understand methods of modelling games, become proficient in using tools used in analyzing optimality of decisions made.

2. The course is a theoretical basis for further studies in the social sciences, hence students should know where and how the game theory can be applied and useful.

3. Students should able to recognize elements of a game in real-life economic situations, present and solve simple decision making problems.

Umiejętności:

1. Students can analyze economic phenomena using game theory, define a decision making problem and apply relevant tools to built a proper model.

2. Students can choose and apply proper solving strategies to problems from the field of game theory.

3. Students are able to recognise elements of game theory in real life problems.

Kompetencje społeczne:

1. Students can apply theoretical knowledge to explain real-life situations and understand advantages of using formal approach to the modelling of decision making problems.

2. Students understand differences between game theory applications and decision theory applications.
