The lecture covers the institutional structure and general mechanism of financial markets. It explains the possibilities offered by financial markets for assets and liabilities management in financial institutions and in corporate sector. It explains the role of money market in liquidity management, the role of capital market in investing and acquiring capital, and the role of derivative markets in risk management. |

The goal of the lecture is to explain possibilities offered by money market, capital markets and derivative markets for financial management in banks, mutual funds, insurance companies, and non-financial firms. The lecture highlights the main concepts, which are important for understanding of financial markets functioning; as liquidity of financial markets and relation between risk and return. |
