Efekty uczenia się: |
Wiedza: Know the basic demographic theories (of population reproduction, fertility, family, mortality, migration). Be able to describe the current demographic problems of Poland and Europe. Be able to define the basic demographic measures. Understand the basic idea of demographic forecasting. Be able to enumerate the major reasons behind the demographic change in Poland, Europe and the world. Umiejętności: Be able to analyse and interpret data on demographic processes (i.e. on population reproduction, fertility,family, mortality, migration, etc). Be able to construct a life table and interpret its parameters. Be able to standardize demographic measures. Be able to use data sources used in demography. Be able to compute major demographic measures. Kompetencje społeczne: Be aware of demographic processes and their possible consequences. Understand the need to conduct socio-demographic research. Be able to conclude about the current demographic change in Poland and Europe. |

Pełny opis: |
Familiarizing students with the demography as a science, the basic methods of demographic analysis, interpretation of demographic indicators and use of different data sources, passing the knowledge on demographic changes, their determinants and implications - demographic, economic and social ones. The lecture presents main topics of demography, basics of analytical methods used to study demographic processes as well as methods of demographic forecasting. In parallel, a contemporary demographic situation is presented (with many empirical illustrations) as well its implications for the future are discussed. Special attention is drawn to demographic changes in Poland and Europe. Basic theories on demographic processes are presented as well. |
