1. Sociology provides individuals with skills helpful in establishing connections between social facts, recognizing decision-making mechanisms and rules governing organisations.

2. Sociological knowledge enhances social skills including leadership competences.

3. Student can critically use a variety sources of information and methods of collecting data

4. Student can design tools which enable him to recognize and analyse social problems

Kompetencje społeczne:

1. Sociology enhances competences in interpreting social phenomena and processes, and enables individuals to exercise intentional detachment from social reality in order to identify actual reasons behind social, economic and political phenomena.

2. Student is prepared to actively take part in discussions on social issues and accept critical opinions

3. Student is aware of the need of collective action in order to achieve some goals

Sociology offers language, knowledge, and methods useful in comprehensive analysis of culture, social structure, institutions and organizations (including economic institutions and organizations), as well as collective behaviour, processes, changes and interactions. Sociological knowledge is a foundation of such disciplines as management theory, political science, theory of marketing and many others.

1. Sociology provides students with conceptual framework for analysing social processes, collective behaviour, social conflicts, social structures and changes taking place within society and culture.

2. Sociology provides students with an insight into interrelations connecting culture, economy and politics.

3. Sociology presents its relations with other disciplines and sciences, as well as a need of interdisciplinary research.

4. The course prepares students to carry out their own research, make them aware of the significance of proper research methods, and shows multiple possibilities in this regard, for example conducting own research for the purpose of BA or MA thesis.

5. Sociology provides students with knowledge, with which they will be able to better understand the contemporary world and changes within it.

6. The course also provides knowledge on Polish society, ways of researching it and existing empirical data.

7. The outcome of sociological education is an ability to investigate cultural differences, understanding particularities of cultures and civilisations, and behaviours that occur within them. Analysis of international research will enable students to compare Polish society to other societies, and make them aware of differences and similarities among them.
