National Innovation System (NIS), its key elements, and NIS models in selected countries. Regional and sectorial systems of innovation. Concepts of national and regional innovation policies. Institutional support of regional and sectorial innovativeness. Firm- level innovation strategies; management of innovation projects; innovation cooperation. Innovativeness as a driver of nation's, region's, sector's and firm's international competitiveness. |
Pełny opis: |
Familiarizing the students with the concept of an national economy's innovativeness, its measurement methods and diversity of innovation systems in the world economy. Shaping student's ability to evaluate the national innovation systems and making conclusions on directions and instruments of nation's innovation policy. Providing a broad view of issues related to technological development in different sectors and to innovativeness at the regional level. Creating students' abilities to assess types, models and elements (incl. clusters) of regional and sectorial systems of innovation, and to analyse various aspects of region's and sector's innovativeness and their relations to competitiveness. Discussing the role of innovation in building international competitive advantage of a firm. Analysing the determinants of firm's innovation; building students' skills in innovation strategy formulation and exploiting relationships between various types of innovation, and cooperation in innovation, as well as building skills in managing of innovation projects from marketing, legal as well as financial perspectives. The course is also aimed at presentation of interrelationships between national and regional innovation systems and firm's innovation strategies and performance, and at building students' ability to integrate the knowledge and skills related to macro-, regional/sectorial- and firm-level aspects of innovation. |

Efekty uczenia się: |
Wiedza: 1. Student understands the concept of national innovation system (NIS), and country- specific characteristics of innovation systems in selected countries; 2. Student knows the measures used in assessment of country's innovativeness level and evaluation of NIS; 3. Student knows the concepts of regional, sectorial and metropolitan innovation systems and understands the role of innovation in the development of regional/sectorial economy; 4. Student knows the processes of technology transfer and diffusion of innovation in regional/sectorial economy; 5. Student knows determinants of firm innovation, innovation types and their interrelationships, and role of innovation in creating of competitive advantage of a firm; 6. Student knows firms' innovation strategies and understands innovation processes (with focus on new product development and launch); Umiejętności: 1. Student is able to identify and interpret innovativeness factors, to evaluate and compare NIS and to analyse elements of innovation systems; 2. Student is able to identify the main elements of regional/sectorial innovation systems, analyse interactions between them, and to evaluate the level of innovativeness of regional economy or an industry; 3.student is able to analyse clusters and their place in regional and sectorial systems of innovation; 4. Student is able to analyse regional/sectorial innovation strategies and assess the role of regional or sectorial authorities/institutions supporting innovativeness; 5. Student is able to develop innovation strategy of a firm in an international context and shape the innovation networks; 7. Student is able to organize the new product development process, prepare feasibility study and marketing plan for a new product. Kompetencje społeczne: 1. student understands the relationship between the level of the innovativeness of the economy and its competitiveness; 2. student understands that in knowledge based economy innovation is a key driver for regional economic development and social welfare; 3. student is able to well identify, collect and use information needed in developing firm's innovation projects; 4. student is able to integrate the knowledge and skills related to macro-, regional/sectorial- and firm-level aspects of innovation in a complex innovation project. |
