Wiedza: Student knows the concept of sustainability and sustainable development and is familiar with the background for the policy analysis and development. Student is familiar with current global challenges related to development and environment Student recognizes a global context of the 21th century policy; Umiejętności: Once course is completed, student is able to identify and define the problems and challenges related to development and environment. Student is able to analyze problems and evaluate policy options in terms of economics and environmental efficiency Student is able to work in/with international teams and institutions dealing with global environmental, economic and social challenges. Kompetencje społeczne: Once course is completed, student improves his/her environmental awareness and attitude and extends his/her general knowledge about the world. Once course is completed, student recognizes the linkages between specific spheres of life and economy and importance of business contribution to solving environmental and social problems. |

Sustainable development is a growing concept of the human well-being promotion while conserving the life-supporting services of the natural environment over the long run. This course provides an opportunity to explore how we can better contribute to meeting that challenge. The course answers the question how is development related to environmental problems, then tries to answer if the concept of sustainable development can be recognized as a best available solution. |

The course intention is to make students proficient in the concept of sustainable development as an answer to increasing global challenges, including crossing planetary boundaries, environmental and resource problems, poverty, inequity. Besides, the course aims at broadening horizons and improving analytical perspective in evaluation of policies at different levels. |
