Philosophy

The elementary course in philosophy covers the most significant problems, standpoints, ideas and works making up the core of the Western intellectual culture. The course covers the history of philosophy from antiquity to modern times, and systematically extends from the problems of ontology and epistemology over the questions of practical philosophy: ethics, social and political philosophy.

Discussing the main philosophical concepts, problems and controversies which have shaped the history of Western intellectual culture and the contemporary world perspective. Promoting the ability to understand texts, to evaluate and formulate arguments, to recognize the relations between different fields of knowledge and between theory and practice. Providing the student with the epistemological tools for self-study and for the independent and responsible scientific work.
