Microeconomics II

The course of microeconomics at the intermediate level, which equips students with more sophisticated methods of microeconomic analysis and develops the skills of applying them in more complex situations. In particular, the major focus of the course is placed on the following problems: consumer choice theory; producer choice theory; equilibrium analysis; decision making under risk and uncertainty; the economic analysis of information and time value of money.

The main objective of the course is to expose students to more sophisticated methods of microeconomic analysis and to develop the skills of applying them in more complex situations. The course also extends the standard neoclassical model, that explains the behaviour of economic agents, to include risk and incorporate problems of optimal decision making under uncertainty. Simultaneously, the course aims at making students acquire the analytical skills necessary to deal with imperfectly competitive markets.
