Efekty uczenia się: |
Wiedza: Knows the basic techniques of academic writing. Knows how to use data sources, information and databases. Has theoretical-methodological insights needed to structure the argument in the thesis. Umiejętności: Can formulate research subjects and select research methods. Is able to obtain trustworthy sources of scientific information, find and appraise data, conduct a review of a body of academic literature on a given subject, evaluate the worth of a text for academic purposes. Prepares a draft thesis within the scope of economics and/or broader social science, demonstrating the capacity for formal academic writing. Kompetencje społeczne: Possesses an ethical disposition toward academic work, respect for intellectual property rights is selection and use of sources. Hones the readiness for teamwork and participation in discussions as well as ease in presenting the research results. |

Shaping the research toolkit and honing writing skills. Relevant legal frameworks of intellectual property rights. |

Pełny opis: |
The goal of the course is to convey and solidify the skills necessary for analysing academic texts in economics and broader social science, developing accurate scientific vocabulary, making a sound choice of the subject of research, designing the structure of the argument, obtaining the statistical data and the access to the body of literature on the subject, writing concise academic papers and summaries. During the course the student will learn how to correctly quote, compile academic work, understand the sources, present the research results and abide by scholarly ethics in his work, including avoiding plagiarism. |
