Introduction - What is World Economy About? Why study World Economy? [(1) World Economy (WE) and other teaching subjects (International Economics; Development Economics; Transition Economics); Economics Curriculum; (2) The Structure of the World Economy; (3) Salient Processes of the Contemporary World Economy (Globalization; Regionalism; Market Transition); (4) Global Problems].

Factors influencing competitiveness on the global market in the XXI centrury.

[During this lecture the factors influencing competitiveness will be discussed. Students will acquire knowledge about factors influencing competitiveness according to different approaches and sources. In conclusion students will try to name one major source of economic advantage in the XXI century.]

The role of economic integration in fostering countries' competitiveness. [This lecture will focus on benefits of economic integration and will outline the benefits of the European integration. ]

The latest trends in the European labor migration. [This lecture will focus on the latest trends in the intra-European labor migration. The advantages and disadvantages of migration will be discussed from the emigration as well as immigration countries' perspective]

The global workforce - benefits and challenges.[This lecture will attempt at answering the questions: what does globalization mean in terms of labor? What are the practical dimensions of global workforce? What are the benefits and challenges of outsourcing and offshoring?]

Global business vs. environmental protection. [This lecture will analyze how global business affects the natural environment and how we can protect the natural environment in the same time sustaining the economic growth]

The circular economy - how we can ensure sustainable economic growth? [This lecture will be a follow up of the lecture no. 6. During this lecture we will analyze what actions producers and governments can take in order to ensure the sustainable growth]

Global tourism and travel industry. [During this lecture we will identify the main tourist destinations and discuss problems of economies where tourism is a main source of income. We will introduce the notion of business tourism. We will discuss the future of business tourism industry.]

The competitive advantage of the Polish economy.

[During this lecture students will face the problem of the Polish economy and the sources of its advantages. A question will be posed why Poland avoided recession during the global financial crisis of 2007 -2009. The Polish economy will be portrayed through the lens of the Global Competitiveness Report and the Innovation Union Scoreboard. Poland will also be presented in reference to the foreign investors and FDIs. In conclusion students will discuss if the advantage of Poland is based on cheap labor or innovation. ]

Can the USA remain global economic leader in the XXI century? The aftermath of the subprime mortgage crisis. [(1) Genesis of the subprime mortgage crisis; (2) The main reasons behind the crisis; (3) The chain of events; (4) The aftermath of the crisis; (5) The effect of the US crisis on the foreign economies].

Economic integration in the Americas: NAFTA and its perspectives [(1) History of the economic integration in America; (2) NAFTA?s member states; (3) The aims and effects of NAFTA; (4) The perspectives for the other American countries to join NAFTA].

Why foreign aid for Africa did not work? [(1) The problems of the Sub- Saharan Africa ? analysis on the basis of statistical data; (2) Lack of effect of the foreign aid for Africa ? the reasoning of IMF and WB; (3) The problem of leadership in Africa; (4) Africa? s growth in the XXI Century].

China and the World Economy [(1) The Facts of Chinese Growth; (2) Lessons from the Chinese Open Economy Strategy; (3) The Chinese International Economic Policy. China and WTO; (4) China and the Asian Financial Crisis; the World Economic Crisis; (5) China - EU - USA - Japan: Competitors or Strategic Partners].

Leaders of the European economy. [During this lectures we will focus on leaders of the European economy and identify their competitiveness in a global market. We will discuss where the advantage of the European economies lies.]

World Economy in 2050. [During this lecture we will discuss how the technological revolution might affect the business in the next 30 years]
